About
A head mounted GoPro is a great way to capture extreme sports footage. However, the original GoPro head straps cannot keep the camera on your head in many situations. The straps fall off very easily and people lose their camera all the time. The GoHat is a comfortable and secure solution to this problem. The GoHat was designed for surfing but will work for any sport where a stable, hands free, POV camera mount is needed:
Background
Surfing has been my passion for many years, and I wanted to show my friends and family what it's like to ride a wave. I knew I could get great footage with a POV angle, so I tried using the elastic GoPro head straps. Unfortunately, the straps were pulled off of my head every time I dove under a wave or fell off my board. I was so worried about losing the camera, I couldn't focus on surfing. I had to come up with a better way to keep the camera on my head in strong water currents. The GoHat was designed to solve this problem. It keeps the camera mounted to your head much better than the original head straps.
Design
The GoHat is designed to be worn backwards. This is so the bill of the hat doesn't show up in the video frame. It also prevents the bill from catching water or air and pulling the hat backwards. The hat itself is constructed from stretch fit material and is one size fits all. The GoHat features an adjustable chin strap fastened with a quick release buckle. Another adjustable strap runs through a closed channel formed by the sweat band and attaches to the GoPro mounting bracket, which allows the wearer to adjust the fit and keeps the GoPro mounted tight and stable.
